Dr. Beke-Martos

Dr. Judit Beke-Martos is the managing director of the Center for International Affairs at the Legal Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum as well as a senior lecturer of the same faculty.

 

Dr. Beke-Martos earned her J.D. and PhD in Law at the Legal Faculty and the Doctoral Institute of the Eötvös Loránd University, respectively. She earned her LL.M. in U.S. and Global Business Law at Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA, USA, where she also spent a year in residence as a visiting scholar. She was the acting head of the Law & Language Center at the Legal Faculty of the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, prior to joining the faculty in Bochum. She spent three months in residence as a foreign legal researcher at the Legal History Institute of the Legal Faculty of Ghent University. She regularly teaches seminars on public speaking and negotiations. She has been coaching and judging teams for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition on and off since 2008 and has extensive experience in coaching and judging German as well as international moot court competitions.

 

Dr. Beke-Martos has published a book and over forty scholarly articles in English, German and Hungarian. Her research specialty is U.S. constitutional law, comparative constitutional law and legal history, legal theory on the separation of powers, as well as the history of international law. She is a member of the European Society for Comparative Legal History and a strong supporter of international academic cooperation.
