André Schmitz

André Schmitz passed his Abitur at the Mercator-Gymnasium in Duisburg in 2013. In the upper secondary school, Mr Schmitz took part in an international exchange (Portsmouth, United Kingdom) sponsored by Stiftung Mercator (2011 - 2012), which allowed him to gain intensive experience with the English language (British English).

 

From 2014 - 2019, Mr Schmitz studied law at the Ruhr University of Bochum and completed his studies in 2019 by passing the First Examination before the Judicial Examination Office at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf.

 

From 2016 - 2019, Mr Schmitz worked as a student assistant at the Chair of Public Law of Prof. Dr Markus Kaltenborn and has now been working at this chair as a research associate and doctoral candidate since January 2020 (topic of the dissertation project: "Extraterritorial human rights responsibility in repatriation - a European legal comparison").

Since 2021, Mr Schmitz has also been working as a research associate at the Centre for International Affairs and is responsible for Erasmus and the LL.M.-programme for foreign legal graduates.
